Brief Company Profile | Chambal Safari Hotels is a family run eco-tourism venture aimed at showcasing the unique biodiversity and cultural integrity of the Chambal Valley.
The valley draws its name from the unholy River Chambal – a pristine, unpolluted rarity that supports an enormous diversity of wildlife. Ideally located a mere 65kms (1 hrs drive) from the Taj Mahal, the Chambal Valley is a world away from the chaotic madness of the city.
The Mela Kothi - Chambal Safari Lodge, nestling in 35 sprawling acres of old growth trees, is a haven of peace and tranquility. The accommodation is in independent cottages with private sit-outs overlooking reclaimed woodland and family owned farms, as well as in luxury suites in the Heritage wing.
There is plenty to entertain everyone from the serious birder to the culture enthusiast.
The River Safari on the National Chambal Sanctuary - home to the rare and critically endangered Gangetic River, Dolphins & Gharials, Marsh Crocodiles and over 300 species of birds is a unique wildlife experience.
Camel Safaris through the ravines to the ruins of a magnificent fortress, Jeep Safaris to explore remote villages and see herds of black-buck deer, Nature walks and Village walks conducted by the resident naturalists.
Excursions to Bateshwar with its 101 temples set along a crescent curve of the River Yamuna, home to Naga Sadhus and the site of an ancient animal fair. Relax and enjoy a meal at The Kunj at Bateshwar the family’s medieval riverside retreat currently being restored to its former glory. |
